“Together in community upliftment”

PHAKAMISA pronounced ‘PA-GA-MEE-SA’ is a Ministry of Pinetown Methodist Church.

PHAKAMISA reaches out to the extremely impoverished communities around Pinetown, seeking to uplift and empower through education, training, resourcing and support, providing ‘a hand up, not a hand out’.

PHAKAMISA BUILDS PEOPLE NOT BUILDINGS

Over 16,000 children are being educated and cared for through Phakamisa’s programmes:

Educare Teacher Training & Child Minder Courses

Wandering Teacher Schools provide free education for orphans and the most vulnerable children exposed to severe poverty

Caregivers care for 6,000 vulnerable children, many affected by HIV AIDS

 Range of Workshops & Training including Vegetable Gardening; Cooking; Traditional  Beadwork; Sewing; Gym;  Literacy Skills      

Tholuthando offers confidential support and creates opportunities to celebrate life for people with HIV AIDS

Devotions provide emotional and spiritual support - God at the centre 

INFORMAL SETTLEMENTS

WANDERING SCHOOLS

Porridge is prepared and sent out twice a week in warming bags to the Wandering Schools, which have no electricity or equipment to prepare it on site.  On two other days donated bread is provided for the children.

PHAKAMISA IS MAKING A DIFFERENCE THANKS TO YOU!
